Selection Matters dot com is basically a weblog (or "blog") related to employment selection. This covers a variety of sub-topics, such as employment testing, recruiting, employment interviews, employment law, HRIS systems, and the like. Pop culture touchstones will rarely, if ever, be mentioned. The site was started because there really wasn't anything like it out there and none of the readers at the author's other blog really cared for this kind of thing.
Things here will often have a slant towards the Industrial-Organizational Psychology field. The author here considers the mythical scientist-practitioner when deciding what might be of interest to readers (that's you), but you won't find any original scientific research here --that kind of stuff is hard. Instead, we may link to it when it's of interest, as well as thought-provoking, insightful, or just plain entertaining articles on personnel selection when they crop up in the mainstream press. We'll try not to just link and run, either, though. You deserve a bit of commentary.

Jamie Madigan has a piece of paper proving that he has Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational psychology. He has experience in a number of areas, but currently specializes in assessment and selection. He works for a large gas and electric utility company in the Midwest United States where he manages several employment testing and applied research programs. Prior to this, Jamie did similar work at another large utility company in Southern California. Before that, he worked as a project manager at an Internet startup and as a Organizational Development Consultant at Anheuser-Busch, where he conducted employee opinion survey projects and helped manage an executive education curriculum. He is also a freelance author, amature photographer, and web developer in his occasional moments of free time.
